The spleen meridian can be associated with physical disorders such as excessive sweating, fatigue, fluid retention, allergies, inability to heal, blood sugar issues, diabetes and obesity. Emotionally it houses our sense of healthy empathy and the ability to be receptive to ourselves and others while offering support, in a responsible, grounded and fully present manner. When out of balance it can result in unhealthy empathy or sympathy, bordering on martyrdom. One may become over protective and worry too much, may feel ungrounded, experience feelings of confusion, self denial, neediness, vagueness, selfishness and perceived rejection. They may develop a cynical outlook on the world.
